DREAM

In this section I share a small snippet or update from my life to share some learnings

This week I am in retreat preparation mode. I am hosting my first writer’s retreat this weekend in the beautiful Kings Beach. It’s honestly a dream come true. I have 7 guests, my mother is assisting me, and I know it’s going to be a gorgeous weekend. The books these women are all writing are going to change people’s lives, and I feel blessed and honoured to be able to create a nurturing and inspiring environment for them to create their meaningful work.

I still recall 10 years ago writing my first bucket list. I wrote on it that I’d love to start a business someday and I’d love to write a book. Now I am hosting a retreat to help others write their books! I am so blessed.

I would say that it hasn’t come easy, but honestly, it has. I think following your passion is never ‘easy’. But not following your passion is harder in my opinion.

I would say what has helped me the most over the years is my continual commitment to growth, to challenging myself, to showing up and most importantly to challenging beliefs that limited and kept me small.

So, I would love to ask you what you are believing right now? Are you believing in potential and opportunity? Or are you believing in lack and limitation?

LIFE

In this section I guide you through an NLP, Coaching or Hypnotherapy tool to help you apply to your life.

In this month’s podcast, I want to share one of my favourite tools with you. It’s something Paul actually teaches in our Hypnotherapy training as the ‘two futures’ technique (which is used for weight loss hypnosis, quitting addictions and quitting smoking) but you can practice a smaller process yourself to help create change. This is the exact process I used when I decided to end my marriage, and I decided to quit my corporate job and start my coaching business called Relaunch my Life (back in 2014!).

As we teach in our NLP Practitioner (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) training, your ability to distort reality is one of your filters of perception and this tool can be useful and unuseful.

Often we distort reality unusefully – we think someone does something and that ‘means’ they don’t like us. Or we think our program didn’t sell and that means we are not successful. But in reality, things just are, and we place meaning on them. What would happen if you stopped distorting things and applying meaning and simply observed them?

But if we want to, we can distort reality to dream, to visualise and to create new outcomes for ourselves.

So let’s do this two futures practice together now.

I want you to think about something you have been trying to decide about. Whatever it is. Maybe it’s getting fit. Maybe it’s quitting your job and committing to your business full-time. Maybe it’s going on that date? Maybe it’s selling your house to pay off all your debts. I want you to imagine your life in 5-10 years’ time if you DO this thing. Imagine it in great detail.

Now I want you to imagine your life in 5-10 years’ time if you don’t do this thing. Imagine it again in great detail.

This clarity and perspective is probably showing you the right way to go.

But now what happens if you blow it all the way out to the end of your life? What happens if you get to the end of your life and you NEVER did this thing, or you DID this thing? Which choice do you want to make now?

It truly helped me know the right things to do. I hope it helps you too.

  1. What is 1 change I have been resisting making, and what would happen if I committed to that?
  2. What daily habit have I been not prioritising and when am I going to do that today?
  3. What would the highest version of me choose to do in this situation?
